2020-2021 LAURELS FOR LEADERS

HIGH SCHOOL SERVICE PROJECT CHALLENGE

Why - You are among the more than 150,000 high-school aged students in San Diego County. We believe that working together, you have incredible potential for positive community impact. That is why we are challenging all High School ASB presidents to lead their peers in making a difference and spread the spirit of giving back during these particularly difficult times.

How - Together work with your ASB Advisor, select a service project from the list below or create your school’s own unique service project. An approved service project must meet all these Guidelines:

➢ Must be in compliance with your school and county COVID19 rules;

➢ Must be completed within any two-week period between November 1, 2020 and January 30, 2021; and

➢ Must have your ASB Advisor approval.

Service Project Ideas

  • Food Drive benefiting the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank (virtual or physical)
  • Sew Branded school masks for staff of school, area seniors, or other essential workers in your community.
  • Virtual Community Ties: Write short letters / notes/ cards to senior citizens in assisted living facilities. Decorate with art, sayings, etc.
  • Partner with an elementary or middle school to tutor, via Zoom, students struggling with various subjects such as math, science and reading.
  • Partner with an animal rescue facility to provide virtual support.
  • Partner with the Armed Forces Y, the USO or a Military Base to write letters support to service men and women.
  • Create “care” packages for abused women, senior center or a homeless shelter with essential items such as shampoo, blankets, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes, socks, etc.

Prizes Every school that completes an approved service project will be entered to win a cash prize for their ASB fund.
Winners will be announced at the Laurels for Leaders event on February 23, 2021.

Step 1:

Select your Service Project Challenge and Project Dates with your ASB Advisor and then register for the event. Use #LFLChallenge when posting on social media.

After you have completed your Service Project Challenge, fill out the submission form and include all your project information and any pictures or videos.
